My 10 year old (Peter)realized yesterday the fact that the reason the hijackers took control of the FIRST planes of the day was "so there was more gasoline in the plane to blow up the buildings"...Leah, my 8 y old, JUST realized that the planes that crashed into the buildings were actual planes with people on them...in her words..."like, planes that had PEOPLE on them that WERE GOING SOMEWHERE...LIKE ON VACATION"...and my 6 y old said "you mean you were alive when this happened???" Wish I could shelter them from the facts of that dy forever, but also want them to empathise with the families directly involved. Torn.
