as a newborn photographer, we are also searching out ways to make our jobs just a little bit easier, and of course inexpensive. beanbag posing is the core of our newborn business, while its my favorite way to showcase a new bundle of joy beanbag posing can have its complications. uneven, wrinkled fabrics is number one in the drawback category! if your like me, you despise nothing more than a perfectly posed newborn on a slightly wrinkled backdrop. so begins the task of editing out those wrinkles, what can mean countless hours of avoidable editing.

well here’s my solution. its simple, its very inexpensive and extremely easy to use!

beanbagbuddie 006web

shes not pretty, but she is a time saver!

remove a couple bars and its even portable.

beanbagbuddie 034web

smooth, tight wrinkle free fabric…ahhhhhh, relief.

AND now, because i like to share anything and everything that makes life easier, you too can get to building your very own Beanbag Buddie with just a couple of materials and these handy how-to instructions! (this isnt rocket science, nor did i “invent” this little time saver, but i did go ahead and build one specifically for my Shoot Baby bean bag and took the time to photograph and jot down my steps, dimensions and materials used for you, my photographer friends, taking the guess work out so that you too can build and shoot in no time flat).

purchase your how-to here for just $10! (instant download after purchase!) —-> Buy Now

**AGAIN-you are purchasing a how-to build document NOT an actual Backdrop Buddie!**

that sounds a bit “fresh” but it really is one of my favorite little DIY tips of all time! One of my resolutions for 2012 is to blog more. Whether it be a post full of a gorgeous family, a fresh little newborn or just something i love and feel the need to share with you all, my goal is to jam up your inboxes and your facebook timelines with “stuff”, little things i feel like sharing, and this little trick is first on the list!

i get asked alot, how i go about laying out wall displays and how i hang my pictures so quickly (i shoot and hang within 2 days, its a problem i have, im pretty sure its categorized as OCD, don’t judge me). i can NOT take credit for this little tip but i can tell you i use the heck out of it! i dont remeber where i heard it, saw it or when the first time i tried it was, but i have been doing it for as long as i remember.

im ashamed to say that when i hang prints in my own home, i tend to “eyeball” it…alot, ok always. and here is how i do it, with the lipstick trick.

go ahead and grab yourself your picture that you are hanging, a hammer and nail and yes a lipstick.

load that print in there, spritz it clean so its ready to hang and then flip it over and apply your first coat of your favorite shade (it can be any shade, red works well but i couldn’t find my daughters recital vamp red color for this tutorial so i went with whatever i could find and it works all the same.)

don’t be stingy really dip the ONE hanger (or two) that you will be using to anchor the frame to the wall. It should have a decent coating on it.

lipsticktrick 011

now take the frame over to where you want it…don’t get right up on the wall just yet, hover around and when your picture is right where you need it, go ahead and place the frame on the wall and press, press HARD (not super human hard but enough to feel that hanger touch the wall.

lipsticktrick 014

presto! youve got your spot.

lipsticktrick 016

hammer a nail right in there where your lipstick has kissed the wall and hang.

enjoy! you can thank me later when you hear your husband calling with hammer in hand ”honey, can you get my lipstick for me!”

oh my gosh something so simple could mean I would have less holes all over my wall, I absolutey eyeball, even if I try and measure it never works out. Thanks you so much what an easy trick.

sessions like this are always so bittersweet…it was so nice to see sweet katie but it reminds me when i see her how big our girls are getting. sweet katie and my kira went through three years of preschool together and now they are getting ready to head to the first grade…its crazy to see how big they are getting!

minus the near 95 degrees, even at sunset, this goes down as an all time favorite session.

just a little sneak peek for mom and dad!

sweet baby hayden was so good to us and so much fun…he didn’t make a peep and didn’t even “poo” until he was in daddy’s arms…something we always find funny (we have every right to laugh at that, were ALWAYS getting pooed on!)

introducing, sweet baby hayden…

we photographers preach that babies are best photographed in the first 10 days of life…and believe me when i say this is sooo true! but ever now and then, you find a client who missed the mark for whatever reason and we explain to mom that poses may not work, props not be able to be used and reassure her that we will hope and try for the best we can do.

meet my favorite 4 week old sleeper…the gorgeous francesco
